Saquon Barkley Fantasy Outlook 2020

Lets be real, this is the most special player in the entire league. If you have seen any of his workout videos you are blown away by how strong and powerful this guy is.

Match that with his speed and agility and it might make you a Giants fan. Add in the fact that this is his 3rd year (Year 3 is typically a big year for all players) and the sky is the limit for Saquon.

Saquon will be dealing with some new faces. The Giants hired Joe Judge as their Head Coach.

Judge has a background as a special teams guru but he hired Jason Garrett, the former Cowboys head coach. With that being said, I think taking a look at how Ezekiel Elliott was used is necessary.

Saquon is a human highlight reel. No doubt he has lived up to his 2nd overall pick expectations thus far. However, this could be his best season yet.

If we look at Ezekiel Elliott’s stats and assume Garrett will use Saquon similarly than there is a lot to get excited about. Zeke has had over 300 carries in 3 of the 4 seasons he has played.

The only season he did not was the season he was suspended for 6 games. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Saquon is probably going over 300 carries.

Pros & Cons

  • Special Talent
  • New Play Caller
  • How will the Offense as a Whole Pan Out?

The undoubted superstar on the team, Saquon has to be the focal point. Daniel Jones had an up and down rookie season. Might be too soon to say if he is a liability or hall of famer yet. I think that bodes very well for Saquon’s usage.

The Giants do have just enough pieces in my opinion to help Saquon. Assuming Jones takes a step forward in his second year, the offense should have better numbers.

The Giants WR corp is above average. Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard have proven themselves but Darius Slayton was a surprise deep threat for the G Men last year.

Therefore, do not be afraid that Saquon will never make it past the line of scrimmage because opposing defenses are only keying on him.

New York Giants Offensive Line 2020

Projected Starting Line: LT: Nate Solder, LG: Will Hernandez, C: Spencer Pulley, RG: Kevin Zeitler, RT: Andrew Thomas

This OL is average to above average on paper. Probably around the same as they were last season.

The Giants had 20 holding penalties called last season. That is actually pretty good and below the average of 22.

Andrew Thomas was the first round pick in this year’s draft which adds another talent. The Giants did not stop there however and added depth/competition drafting linemen in the 3rd and 5th round also.

What is key to note with this group is the continuity. First off no lineman within the group has played for the Giants more than 3 years. They also have not played with each other much so that is where some concern is. You can see sometimes on film they lack communication which is attributed to how well they know each other.

Expect to see some growth since 4 of the 5 are returning starters. Thomas is the only one not returning but he might be worth the 4th overall selection they used on the Georgia product.

Saquon Barkley Strength of Schedule

Starting with the NFC East, the Cowboys and Eagles both had top 10 overall defenses while Washington finished 27th in 2019. The Giants will face the Steelers, Bears, 49ers and Ravens who also ranked top 10 last season.

Saquon Barkley Fantasy Playoff Schedule

Home against the Cardinals and Browns to start the fantasy playoffs is good news. However, Saquon will have to create magic at Baltimore Week 16 and against Dallas Week 17.

Saquon Barkley Injury History

Barkley sustained a high ankle sprain in Week 3 against Tampa Bay but he came back before expected missing only 3 games.

Saquon Barkley Skillset

Home Run Ability: A. He can outrun people and take it to the house from anywhere on the field.

Playmaking Ability: A. Whether he is making people miss with nasty jukemoves or just simply running past people, Saquon is as good as it gets making plays.

Is Saquon Barkley a Good Fanatsy Pick?

Without hesitation, yes! You should hope you have a top pick so you can have Saquon on your side. You do not want to play against him.
