Matt Breida Fantasy Outlook
Matt Breida was traded to the Dolphins this offseason for a 5th round pick. Breida was undrafted in 2017 but has been able to make some plays when given the chance.
Even though he has a good reputation of playing through injuries Breida always seems to be nicked up. Now in Miami, Breida will have to stay healthy and earn time over Jordan Howard.
Chan Gailey has been hired as the OC in Miami. Gailey has been out of the league since 2016. The last time we saw Gailey was as an OC for the Jets in 2015 and 2016. In 2015, Ryan Fitpatrick threw the ball 600 times for 3,905 yards and 31 touchdowns. With Miami spending their first round pick on Tua Tagovailoa, I expect them to be pass first this season.
In addition, Jordan Howard will share the backfield with Matt Breida. All the signs lead to Howard getting the early down work. Breida adds value as a good change of pace back because Howard is a downhill physical runner.
Do not expect Breida to be used much in the pass game either. Expecting rookie QB Tua Tagovailoa to be the starter, and Chan Gailey as the OC, it is hard to predict how the Dolphins offense will look. Does not help much that there might not be a preseason.
Miami Dolphins Offensive Line 2020
Projected Starting Line: LT: Julie’n Davenport, LG: Ereck Flowers, C: Ted Karras, RG: Michael Deiter, RT: Jesse Davis
Davenport was traded to Miami last season. Unfortunately he missed half the season with a leg injury.
Ereck Flowers is a former first round pick trying to shed a bust label. He started his career playing tackle but now he is playing guard where he has been playing better.
Ted Karras joins the team from New England. He will be a serviceable center.
Michael Deiter was a rookie last season that started all but 1 game. He will become a solid starter.
Jesse Davis is the longest tenured player on this unit. He has been with the fish since 2016. Davis is the best player on this struggling unit but nothing to rave about.
This line needs to improve this season. It ranks near the bottom in the entire league.
Matt Breida Strength of Schedule
Just brutal! Jordan Howard and the fish have 8 games against defenses that finished top 10 in 2019. The 3 other teams in the AFC East make up 6 of those games.
The fish only have 1 primetime game in Week 3 at Jacksonville on Thursday Night Football.
A Week 11 bye is late rest for players.
Matt Breida Fantasy Playoff Schedule
Week 14 the fish host the defending super bowl champion Chiefs. Week 15 the fish host the 2018 super bowl champion Patriots. Week 16 at Las Vegas. Week 17 at Buffalo.
