Devin Singletary Fantasy Outlook
Devin Singletary met or exceeded some expectations during his rookie season in 2019. Being a 3rd round draft pick, the Bills got what they were looking for out of Singletary.
Singletary is definitely one of the smaller backs in the league. What Singletary does well though is use his size. He gets small through holes and often you see him squirt out and pick up more yards than it seemed he would get. He has some good agility that allows him to knife through the defense.
Brian Daboll will be the OC again this season for Buffalo. Last season the Bills finished with the 6th most rush attempts in the league which was good enough for the 8th best rushing attack.
They run out of shotgun and under center. The Bills identity, for the entire team actually, is playing harder than the opponent. That is what you get in the run game. They gain dirty, tough yards from having more effort than the defense and Singletary matches that. He exhausts himself almost every carry because he wants to gain that extra yard.
Josh Allen should improve going into his 3rd NFL season. With his improvement the entire offense should improve because you can see the Bills get out of rhythm too often.
The main reason they get out of rhythm is because the passing game was below average and they could not sustain drives. That is the biggest takeaway, the offense being consistent and efficient.
The Bills second leading rusher from 2019, Frank Gore, is gone. However, they did draft Zack Moss in the 3rd round which could mean that the Bills plan to have a two headed backfield again and not let Singletary be a lion share guy.
Buffalo Bills Offensive Line 2020
Projected Starting Line: LT: Dion Dawkins, LG: Quinton Spain, C: Mitch Morse, RG: Jon Feliciano, RT: Cody Ford
Both the tackles, Dawkins and Ford are the only two starters Buffalo selected in the draft. They are both similar tackles with good athleticism and toughness.
The middle of the line were all acquired through free agency.
Talking about the Bills offensive line is not hard because they all resemble each other so much and fit what the Bills want out of offensive linemen. It is a group that is not made up of superstars but tough players that play their tails off. Look for this group to have more success in 2020 as it is one of the underrated groups across the league.
Devin Singletary Strength of Schedule
It is tough sledding for Singletary. The Bills have 7 games against teams who had a top 10 defense in 2019.
Four primetime games for Buffalo should have Bills Mafia super excited to see their team play on the big stage.
A Week 11 bye is late, but will allow Singletary to be fresh down the home stretch. If he does not produce, you probably have to trade him much sooner than the bye considering your league’s trade deadline.
Devin Singletary Fantasy Playoff Schedule
Week 14 at home against Pittsburgh is a tough matchup. At Denver Week 15 who Singletary had his best game against last season. Week 16 at New England is another tough matchup before the Week 17 home finale against the Dolphins.
Devin Singletary Injury History
Singletary had a hamstring injury last season that cost him 4 games.
Devin Singletary Skillset
Home Run Ability: D. Singletary’s longest run was 38 yards. That is a big knock because fantasy owners want guys who can score from anywhere on the field.
Playmaking Ability: C. Other than Singletary’s effort, his best attribute is his agility but he does not show game changing ability.
Is Devin Singletary a Good Fantasy Pick?
No. Singletary will be steady some weeks. Overall, he is an RB3 at best with a tough schedule on paper.
