Christian McCaffrey Fantasy Outlook 2020
If you had McCaffrey last season you probably won the championship or at least made it to the championship. Can he really duplicate that?
Well, first off I will try to predict injuries! I do not wish any harm on anyone but injuries are inevitable for every sport. Lets also be real, how many of us have drafted a player and they get hurt and ruin our fantasy season?
With that being said I do think McCaffrey could possibly deal with some nagging injuries this year that cost him some games. Don’t worry, I also posted a 16 game prediction. Enjoy.
McCaffrey touched the ball almost 400 times last season! I give him a ton of credit because he is very good at not taking big hits. And even though he has been known to jump over people he still has been very durable. He is a tremendous athlete.
However, he does play the most physically taxing position. It almost seems too good to be true that he can live up to the expectations he created last season. If he does play all 16 games, of course he will be fantasy gold.
There is a new sheriff in town. Matt Rhule was hired this offseason to be the Panthers head coach. He made a very sexy hire by making Joe Brady his offensive coordinator.
For those that do not know Brady led the LSU Tigers to an undefeated National Championship in 2019 featuring Heisman winner and 1st overall pick Joe Burrow.
The Tigers offense set a plethora of school records as well as NCAA records under Brady. That is excellent news for McCaffrey.
Carolina Panthers Offensive Line 2020
Projected Starting Line: LT: Russell Okung, LG: John Miller, C: Matt Paradis, RG: Dennis Daley, RT: Taylor Moton
Starting with the left side, Okung and Miller have started every game they’ve played in. Okung has 124 starts and made the pro bowl twice in his career. Miller has made 60 starts without any other accolades.
This means they have good experience in the NFL but need to gel with each other early on.
Matt Paradis and Taylor Moton are the stars of this line. Both are good athletes and play well both in the run game and pass game. They were both starters last season and helped McCaffrey average an outstanding 4.9 yards per carry.
Dennis Daley started 9 games at left tackle during his rookie season in 2019. He has been moved to guard with the arrival of Okung which clearly states that he did not play up to par.
I’ve watched some film on him and he is an average athlete. He does have above average power and strength which means he can create some movement at the line of scrimmage and he can sustain his block but his biggest issue is his athleticism.
He does not move very well and his feet get stuck playing against quicker defenders. Moving to guard is definitely better for him but he is still a liability.
Christian McCaffrey Strength of Schedule
The NFL wants CMC to run wild again this season. The Panthers face only two top 10 defenses from a year ago!
Unfortunately, if you are looking for McCaffrey to be on Primetime you are out of luck. The Panthers kickoff at 1pm EST 13 times this season.
Christian McCaffrey Fantasy Playoff Schedule
Week 14 is home against the Broncos who are very formidable. Week 15 CMC takes on Green Bay at Lambeau where he had 26 touches for 141 yards and 1 TD in 2019. Week 16 the Panthers will be fired up to take on former head coach Ron Rivera and Washington on the road. Week 17 features a divisional home game against New Orleans.
Christian McCaffrey Injury History
None. McCaffrey has not missed a game in his NFL career. Very uncommon.
Christian McCaffrey Skillset
Home Run Ability: A. It is not unusual to see McCaffrey sprinting to the end zone from any distance.
Playmaking Ability: A+. There is not a better player in the open field than CMC. Almost impossible for the first man to tackle him.
Is Christian McCaffrey a Good Fantasy Pick?
Yes but.. I know I know. If you take McCaffrey I don’t think it is a bad choice at all. But, trade him for a king’s ransom before its too late.
